Why this tool is handy in the workshop

ILLUSTRATION: BOTTOM LEFT
• leave nails high, then hand-drive to avoid leaving indentations

• padded nose to protect work surface

• keep hands clear around edges: air nails are flexible and can veer outward if they hit an internal knot

TOP RIGHT
• piston pump compressor

• diaphram-driven “pancake” compressors are generally lighter and less expensive, but air output is lower

• drain air tanks daily to remove condensed water

NAILER
• 18-gauge models leave smaller nail holes; 16-gauge models drive nails up to 2 1/2" long
