Embellish a basic fence with a wooden trellis

trellis10.jpg
Clamp a stringer board between the front uprights and mark where the boards will overlap.
trellis11.jpg
Use your mitre saw and chisel again to create the required notches in both the boards that will make up the stringer and the beams. With the notches cut, use the plans to edge-glue other boards together to create the shape of the stringer.
trellis12.jpg
Install the stringer and beams on top of the front uprights.
trellis13.jpg
Add the short back uprights to create a thicker look.
trellis14.jpg
Add mitred pieces all the way around the front and back uprights at the points where the boards meet the top horizontal fence board. Use a level to ensure a tight fit.
