Swings make taking it easy with family and friends on summer evenings a sublime experience. This child-sized version is perfect for creating a place for any child to sit and read a book or relax with a favorite stuffed animal. Because it’s small, it fits on even a tiny back porch or under the eaves of a house. Although the end result looks as if it might be beyond the average woodworker’s skills, it is surprisingly simple to assemble once all the pieces have been cut out. The template for the seat and backrest of the swing can easily be roughed out on cardboard, traced onto the lumber, and cut with a jigsaw.
