for marking a pattern on for decoration
The picture in the CHWS magazine of an old car does not show the type of wheel this wrench was used for. This wrench was used for LUG nuts not wheel nuts. Lug nuts held a steel rim on the wheel similar to the method used for truck tires today. You would never have enough leverage to remove wheel nuts with this wrench. Also, to my knowledge, wheel nuts were never square, but hex.
