This tool is used to remove wood shingles. You slide the tool up under the shingle and the v notch on each side of the head will catch on the nails then tap back to remove the tool and nail. Repeat until all nails are removed from the shingle. This enables you to remove wooden shingles for renovation, etc. This tool was found in my fathers garage after he passed away. We have used it a number of times since then. A carpenter friend/uncle had used a similar item during a renovation. I've used this type of tool years ago.It is used to remove both shakes and ashphalt shingles when you are patching, mostly. You slide it up to the nail under neath and hammer onto the bar until the nail lets go.I am getting back into renovations and have been trying to get my hands on one.I spoke with my tool guy about one and he told me they tried to have some made but the cost was so high they decided not to.They are quite handy to have. Thanks,Mike Frankton
