Toronto, ON (February 5, 2008)—This year’s Canadian Home Workshop Show (February 29 - March 2, 2008 at the International Centre, 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga) is proud to welcome some of the industry’s best woodworkers, including: “Tool Girl” Mag Ruffman, John Sillaots, Paul Daly, Bryan Baeumler and the longest running TV home improvement guy in North America, Jon Eakes. All of these DIY stars will be on hand on the main stage to share their invaluable expertise.
CELEBRITY BIOS: Paul Daly
Certified carpenter, contractor and home renovator, Paul Daly is also a well known television personality having spent ten seasons as the “divine carpenter” on W Network’s Divine Design show. Paul’s skill and expertise in the industry will inform, inspire and entertain you as he shares “Top Ten Things You Can Do Yourself.” Paul Daly was given the GTHBA builder of the year award in 2004 for constructing the largest dream home in Canadian history in a mere 10 days!
John Sillaots
As former host of HGTV’s In the Workshop, John Sillaots has inspired many do-it-yourselfers of all ages to “give it a try.” With a common sense approach to home improvement and innovative project designs, John’s work is both functional and stylish. The proud owner of Barnside custom cabinetry and furnishings, John specializes in total makeovers with emphasis on quality, design and budget. John is also a wonderful motivational speaker who loves to share his passion for working in wood.
Mag Ruffman
Mag Ruffman, aka “Tool Girl”, certainly knows her way around a workshop. Mag is not only a contractor, she is the accomplished author of How Hard Can It Be?, a collection of projects and repairs for beginners. Mag spent five seasons in a tool belt as host of A Repair to Remember and on the award winning series Anything I Can Do which now airs worldwide. Mag Ruffman is a wonderful source of valuable information for do-it-yourselfers both accomplished and novice. On the Main Stage, Mag will demonstrate how to work in eco-friendly bamboo.
Jon Eakes
With nearly 30 years experience in the world of home renovation, Jon has a thing or two to tell us about how to “fix-it.” In 1978, Jon first appeared on CTV’s Mr. Chips—today he is now recognized as the longest running TV home improvement guy in North America. Jon has been the star of television’s Mr. Chips, You Can Do It, Renovation Zone and House Hot Line, and he is currently in production of the sixth season of Just Ask Jon Eakes on HGTV. Through books, radio, television, video, multi-media, cable and now the web, Jon provides solid answers for his audience. Be sure not to miss Jon Eakes on the Main Stage of the Canadian Home Workshop Show.
Bryan Baeumler
As contractor and host of HGTV’s Disaster DIY, Bryan helps do-it-yourselfers who have failed at their own home reno projects. With a clever wit and great sense of humour, Bryan teaches homeowners how to fix their mistakes safely and properly. At the helm of his own construction company (Baeumler Quality Construction) Bryan prides himself on a high level of craftsmanship on every job. Bryan’s motto is: “Design, destroy, rebuild.”
