Six electric mowers are put to the test

For our money
We felt that all of the mowers were capable machines. When picking our favourites, concerns such as manoeuvrability, handle ergonomics and noise factored heavily.

troybuilt.jpgRoy: I gravitated toward the low noise output of the Troy-Bilt and I thought its bag was the best by far. However, I felt the Yardworks was a close contender, owing primarily to the possibility of switching out the battery and a safety device you could grip with either hand.
troybuilt.jpgMcDonald: I liked the Troy-Bilt best. It was lightweight and easy to handle, had good ergonomics, had a good charge indicator and was quiet.
solaris.jpgSiedlaczek: I liked the most and least expensive machines. The Solaris has a quiet, brushless motor, a multi-position handle and self-propelling action. Plus, you get the option of keeping a second set of batteries in the charger. But I also give a nod to the Homelite, which gave good performance at a good value.
