Hose reels are a backyard necessity, but they’re not much to look at, which is why I designed this handy hose box. Generous proportions house many sizes of reels elegantly, from large commercial units to the newer self-winding models. If you’re going to be using one of the smaller hose reels, as I did, I’ve also included plans for a removable tray to take advantage of the extra space leftover up top. This whole project is made of standard cedar lumber—relatively inexpensive, easy to find and pleasant to work with. You will, however, need access to a planer to bring the lumber down to the thicknesses required.
