Make a classic and long-lasting addition to your garden architecture

How to roughen the sides of the stone.

Mark the dimensions on the top and sides of the stone to guide the starting position of your chisel.

Roughen the smooth faces of the stone by chipping off small flake-size pieces. Use a pitching chisel and a 2.5-lb. hammer for this work.

Attack the lower edges and middle sections of the stone from the sides, using the same technique.

Backfilling

The crushed gravel will compact more tightly if the trench is backfilled in thin layers as the wall is built. Eventually, backfill with gravel to within about 6" of the top of the wall.

Fill the remaining area with quality garden soil along the length of the wall
