Make a classic and long-lasting addition to your garden architecture

Generous Excavation is the key to success. While it’s not necessary to excavate as deep as the frost line, a deep trench is essential for proper drainage.

For a 24"-tall wall (which will end up standing about 18" above grade), aim for about 18" of depth. The wall should be built on undisturbed soil, so excavate only to the required depth.

Tamp down the loose soil.

Landscape fabric prevents the garden soil from washing into the gravel and clogging its drainage ability.

Backfill the trench with coarse gravel, about 12" deep.
