Although most municipal water supplies in Canada are regularly tested and are quite safe to drink, many people just don't like the taste of un-filtered drinking water. If that sounds like the folks in your house and you're tired of refilling a filter jug or carrying heavy cases of bottled water home from the grocery store, consider adding a filtered drinking faucet to your kitchen or bathroom. Installing one is a straightforward plumbing project that can be easily completed in an afternoon.
Keep in mind that while most carbon-based drinking water filters will remove harmful metals such as lead, they won't make water that's microbiologically contaminated any safer to drink. However, they can make otherwise safe water taste a whole lot better.
The unit installed in this project comes with a built-in indicator that lights up to tell you when the filter needs to be replaced. It's made by Moen and costs approximately $250.
