step 2 step 3
1. Under the sink, cut the existing drain with a hacksaw leaving a 1/2" stub of pipe and disconnect from the tailpiece. Remove the tailpiece and the sink basket retaining ring. 2. Back up top, remove the old basket strainer and drain assembly from the sink. Scrape any old plumbers putty off the sink flange to help ensure the new drain flange seals properly. 3. Apply a good quality waterproof latex caulk to the flange of the new drain. Seat the drain ring in the hole. Press down to ensure a good seal and wipe up any excess caulk.
step 4 step 5 step 6
4. Position the fiber gasket and backup ring over the end of the new sink flange. Slide the mounting ring up to the sink and hold everything in place with the three screws. 5. Remove the electrical access plate from the bottom of the disposer and make the electrical connections for the plug. Note the green wire attached to the green grounding screw. 6. Replace the electrical access plate and lift the disposer up onto the mounting ring. Install the old tailpiece into the disposer and secure it in place with the retaining ring provided.
step 7 step 8 step 9
7. Add PVC couplers to the old drain and connect it to the disposer with a slip nut. Attach the other end to the old drain using PVC solvent cement and a coupler. 8. Install the pushbutton for the air switch on the top of the sink. Drill a pilot hole first, then use a knockout punch (available for rent) to finish the hole. Insert the pushbutton in the hole. 9. Install the air switch box under the sink and run the air hose from the pushbutton to the switch box. Plug the disposer into the switch box and the switch box into a GFCI outlet.
