Make your bathroom shine with this easy DIY bathroom upgrade

Most bathrooms are wired with an over-the-mirror junction box, which is what leads many homeowners to install the strip of vanity lights found at any lighting store. But to add a little interest and a great light source, you can switch to wall sconces (if your local bylaws permit DIY electrical work). All you need is a little know-how.

step1.jpgAfter shutting down the power, remove the old fixture and pull the cabinet from its opening.
step2.jpgTrace the new fixture boxes. The location may need to move based on plumbing and wiring.
step3.jpgCut the opening with a drywall saw. Use a hole saw if you have lathe-and-plaster walls.
