Install a tile floor
Snap a chalkline down the centre of the room, dividing it left to right.
Mark the centre point by snapping a second line that intersects the first on the perpendicular.
Lay tiles loosely to find the starting point that will the allow tiles to be laid in the largest pieces.
A water-lubricated tile saw can be messy but it’s easy to use and will make the job much easier. The saw’s clean, smooth cuts makes the extra cleanup worth it.
Lay the tiles in place without mortar to anticipate tricky cuts and other layout challenges that will become apparent as you work.
