Install in-floor heating
Calculate the room dimensions. The mat manufacturer (www.nuheat.com) can custom-make the mat according to your measurements.
Ensure the floor is free of debris, then dry-fit the mat in place. Don’t trim the mat because the wires run throughout and can be easily damage.
The mat has to be tested with an ohmmeter to check for resistance and insulation. If the mat is faulty or damaged, it’s best to know now, before it’s installed.
The mat is controlled via a floor-sensing thermostat. Measure and test your layout to find the unit’s best location on the wall.
Use a drywall saw to make an opening for the thermostat. It has a built-in ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) and it must be on its own dedicated circuit.
Use a 1/4" square-notched trowel to apply a scratch coat of latex-modified thinset. The thinset should be quite thin and runny to make it easy for the mat to bond to.
