Reader Colin alerted me to some pallet projects build in Summerville, NS. These eco-conscious endeavours are prime examples of that second ‘R’: reuse. The woodshed and fence built from old pallets are pretty inspired.

Also, for the fine wooderworker, check out Ryan Shervill’s keepsake box made from…you guessed it: pallets.

  1. The thing that one must concern themselves with in terms of used pallets is what they were used for during their ‘lifecycle’. Depending on where they are from they could have been exposed to hazardous chemicals. When I source old materials I usually try to find ones that have been used in the food industry etc. to avoid exposure to the unknown.

    Good on you! Looks great!

  3. Recycling wood pallets makes great sense especially for the environment. Timber Wolf Forest Products carries a huge selection of recycled skids in just about every shape and size.

  4. I think what you are doing is great. More people need to follow your lead!
